Welcome to Johnny's RC Super80 page
This Radio-Controlled Flying Model is also a modified Life-Like $6.00 Foamie Glider I found at K-Mart,
(I bought 4 of them all at once, cause they are so hard to find) I added two EDF (mini-electric ducted fan engines)
and converted the tail section to a T-Tail configuration
and dressed it in American Airlines Colors
(once more!)

Design Challenges and Innovations
with this ship, I challenged myself to attempt to convert what was originally molded to a 757
type glider, but noticed the long fuselage (which was sorta MD80ish long)
and always wanted to see if I can pull it off!...on a creative design level...and as far as My RC Airplane Addiction could
take me, just like my FlightSimulator Addiction, which really started off as a lone Throttle Quadrant, then the rest
of the sim was built around that...Anyways! the wings and engines on my RC80 are robbed from my Estes RC Kit
which I found on Ebay and are very cool!...as it had very powerful mini-electric ducted fan engines
, and a very
nice large area wing

T-Tail mod, and Engine Pylon Mount Configuration
On My RC80 flying model, the challenge was to have enough separation between the engines so that
Differential Thrust Method would be effective, and also mounted as far forward for CG purposes.
The tail was also moded out to accomodate a T-Tail configuration, which is supported my toothpicks
deeply embedded and epoxied together. notice there is no landing gear as I thought the engines
are well protected against hard landings! The Engine Pylons are also kanted for trim up since the elevator is
hard mounted.
